Equipment

Over the years I've used all manner of running related equipment, the list below is what I'm currently favouring.

Shoes

I've been using Newton Running shoes for a good few years now. They're slightly different to usual shoes in that they have a fairly low heel to toe drop and have a set of lugs at the forefoot to promote a mid-foot landing style.

Tracking

I use a few things to track what's happening when I'm running. I've got  a Garmin 630 which gives the following sort of data:

I also use Runscribe which are two pods that attached to the laces (or heel) of your trainers and capture a lot of data about the way you run including pronation, impact, contact time etc. The data is fascinating and interesting to see how it chances between shoes or different terrains.

Nutrition

My food of choice during and after a long run is:

  1.  High5 isogel energy gels
  2. Cliff Bar - peanut butter flavour
  3. Myprotein shakes
I normally just take water out in a camelbak and don't tend to bother with energy drinks.
